One day dedicated to the theory and practice of the basic security procedures essential to ski mountianeering. ARVA , avalanche assesment, crevasse rescue, understanding/reading the terrain…… Level of ski ability required : black runs / some off piste Dates : Each Wednesday. PROGRAMME (idea ! according conditions and ability) - introduction to security equipment and theory - ARVA/PEIPS (theoretical use) - equipment inventory - weather and snow assessment theory application of the above in situ : ski, AARVA search, reading the terrain ( avalanche assesement…….) - Working off-piste on the glacier (gm or vb) - Application and practice of safe off-pist skiing on a glacier and use of specialised equipment. |
