The Vallee Blanche, one of the most beautiful glacial walking routes of the Mt. Blanc Massif situated in the alps. This is a fabulous hike of more than 20 kms in the high mountains without any technical difficulty that we are offering, as a walking trip on snow shoes.
What it entails : Three days in the universe of the high alpine mountains, without technical difficulty. Snowshoes are used as a means of progression and can be dispensed with as the circumstances dictate; for instance certain places may call for the use of crampons depending upon the snow conditions.
Level : A minimum of physical fitness ( being able to walk 4 to 5 hrs per day).
Equipment : Warm clothes, polar fleece and wind/waterproofs. High-mountain boots with ankle support, gaiters, rucksack (about 30 liters), crampons, harness.
Thermosflask and head torch (equipment can be hired from the sport shops).
Number of people : 3 to 6 people maximum per guide.
Dates 2009 : 20th to 22nd of February ; 6th to 8th and 20th to 22nd of March ; 27th to 29th of March ; 11th to 13th of April and 17th to 19th of April

Itinerary :
Day 1 Meeting at the Guides Company at 9am, and verification of equipment.
Leave for the cable car of the Aiguille du Midi, stop at the Plan de l’Aiguille. Hiking at the foot of the North Face of the Aiguille and a check of the use of equipment. Picnic followed by the ascent on cable car to the summit of the Aiguille du Midi. Descent of the arete, tour of the Midi plateau and a short ascent to the Cosmiques refuge. Night in the refuge at 3,613 metres.
Day 2 Leave the refuge and descend the first part of the Vallee Blanche by the Geant Glacier to the Requin refuge.Passing by the foot of the Mt. Blanc Tacul and picnicking on the upper part of the Geant glacier in the heart of the Mt. Blanc Massif itself. Second part of the Geant glacier descending the Geant seracs (ice fall).
Day 3 A descent to the end of the Vallee Blanche by the Mer de Glace.
A small circuit of the Leschaux glacier, picnicking in front of the Grand Jorasses. Completing the Mer de Glace and a descent to Chamonix by way of the Montenvers cable car and train.
