| TREKING AND
THE ENVIRONMENT In the mountains, nature is extremely fragile and is not made to cope with waste. Many people are now aware of the environmental problems, but not everyone. Practice is often far from the theory which is why a responsible attitude is best for all. We take great care to ensure that we gather up our papers, plastic bags, plasters and packaging and dispose of them in the proper places. In other words, the only things we leave behind are our footprints! |

| PREPARING
FOR YOUR TREK Physical preparation : In order to enjoy your holiday to the full, it is necessary to be properly prepared. Depending on the difficulty of your trek, you should be training for at least one month before the trek by taking the stairs instead of the lift, or by go walking or running at the week-ends. Visiting the gym will help muscle tone. A quick check-up by your GP would not go amiss. If you are taking any medicines or following any medical treatments you must inform your trekking guide before leaving. Psychological preparation : Being in a group can sometimes require tolerance and good humour. Remember this before leaving, as being able to ‘let go’ will enable you to enjoy your trek to the full. Unfortunately, the weather is unpredictable and out of our control, so don’t let yourself become demoralised by a few drops of rain. Trekking by its very nature, is outdoors so even a downturn in the weather can have its own special charm. |

| THE ADVANTAGE
OF USING THE COMPAGNIE DES GUIDES : We offer a TRUE fully-inclusive
package. Departure is guaranteed with a minimum of six people, accompanied
by a professional trekking guide whose passion for the mountains makes
them the perfect ambassador. THE MEALS : The evening meal will be taken in the mountain huts or hotels. The trekking guide will take care of preparing the picnics. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any medical restrictions. The water in all the mountain huts is fit to drink, however, please check with your trekking guide before drinking water from other sources in the mountains. THE
CLIMATE : Alpine climates can change very quickly. It can become
very cold very quickly when in altitude and it is not unusual for it
to snow in summer. For this reason, do not forget to bring some warm
clothing, even if the weather forecast predicts good weather. You should
also note that the sun can be very hot in altitude. So your backpack
should always contain whatever you might need to confront capricious
and rigorous weather. |
