Body

Summit of the Aiguille du Midi: 3842 m ... Everything is big, immense and white !
At your feet, the famous ridge, then THE descent ... 23 km and 2,000 m of altitude to be enjoyed along the slopes of this mythical glacier.
The Vallee Blanche is a wild ski run that will take you deep into the Mont Blanc range.  The variety of the scenery and sheer size and length makes this run a very unique experience. In a magical world, you ski between seracs and crevasses, before a possible lunch break at the Refuge du Requin. This high altitude route follows glacier off-piste and ungroomed terrain, therefore requiring extreme caution. The ski run starts on an airy snow ridge. The ridge is secured with rope hand rails but requires the party to be roped up.
An amazing panoramic view ... Mont Blanc, Grandes Jorasses, Drus, Aiguille Verte. A must !
Go down the Vallée Blanche outside rush hours, with all the magic of a night in altitude (3613 m). The sunset and the sunrise in the high mountains will be unforgettable. Thanks to the Cosmiques Hut, we will be happy to help you discover the magic of a night high in the mountains  from mid-February.

At the bottom of the Mer de Glace, there is about a 20 minute walk (with your skis attached to your backpack) This is necessary to reach either the Montenvers cog train or the Mottets hut before heading to Chamonix either by train or by skis.

The refuge is open from mid-February

PRIVATE BOOKING

The private engagement is a historical relationship that binds a guide to their clients. It allows you to be either alone or in a group of friends with your guide. Your guide can organize your trip to meet your specific needs. It is undoubtedly the ideal formula to realize your projects because it guarantees you a maximum of comfort.

You can book a private engagement guide online for a Vallee Blanche and overnight in les Cosmiques hut. Do not hesitate to take all the necessary information to be certain that this outing corresponds to your expectations. Your booking with your payment commits you to make this trip on the date you have chosen. You will be refunded in full in case of bad conditions that do not guarantee the necessary security conditions for the exit to take place.
For the snowboarders : Due to the natural configuration of the glacier, the classic route of the VB is not very steep and therefore is not recommended for snowboarders. Several steeper variants (Petit et Moyen Envers du Plan for example) are better adapted for snowboarders. The level required for these variants is equivalent to that of a black slope in off-slope conditions (changing and deep snow).

Telescopic poles are mandatory to help your descent on the final part of the glacier.

Dates 2020 (private guiding) : Every day except during the week ends in March and April (Fridays- Saturdays / Saturdays - Sundays)

Meeting point (private guiding) : Your guide will call you the evening before your trip around 6.30pm to organize the meeting time and place

Guiding policy (private guiding) : Group from 1 to 6 people.

Further information

The Vallée Blanche is an off-piste and ungroomed route, taking place on a glacial terrain in the high mountains. Supervision by a qualified guide is the safest way to take full advantage of the activity. He will know, through his experience, choose the best route and will share his knowledge of the sites and his passion for the mountains. Vallée Blanche is skiable from mid-December to early Mai. Weekends of March and April are usally the busiest.

Nota bene : A night at such an altitude (3,613 m) can cause some inconvenience: headache, nausea, rough night ...

Duration : From the hut to the bottom of the valley, 3 to 4 hours are necessary, depending on mountain/snow conditions and choice of route

Ability level : Skiers must be able to control their speed, side-slip, ski at a safe speed and follow existing tracks. The course may be similar, for technical difficulty, to a red track, (single black diamond run). Be careful, this is an off-piste route and the technical difficulty may increase depending on the conditions of the moment.

Equipment

We recommend you to pay particular attention to the choice of your equipment. It contributes greatly to the success of your stay. In a general way, it is better to pile up several light coats rather than wear one big clothing.

Equipment
- The normal ski equipment is sufficient. Have the bindings checked before departure to avoid any unpleasent surprises !

- A backpack on which you can attach your skis is obligatory. This will also allow you to carry drinks, picnics and clothes that you will take off if it's hot.
- Your guide will provide you the necessary safety equipment : avalanche transiver and harness.

Clothing
 - Clothing should be adapted to the cold and wind that we often have at the start. Gloves, hats, sunglasses and sunscreen with a high degree of protection are essential.

Accessories
- Sunglasses or goggle
- Sunscreen
- Power food / lunch
- Camera
- A mini toilet bag and a cotton or silk sleeping sheet

Partners : There is the possibility to rent your equipment at a preferential price from one of our partner sports shops. Sanglard Sports & Ravanel & Co
