The southern ridge of la Chapelle de la Glière (2838m) is a wonderful rock climbing area with a breathtaking view of the Mont Blanc Massif. The approach from the Flegere lift is an easy 45 minute walk. The southern ridge of la Chapelle de la Glière is a combination of proper rock climbing and mountaineering. This variety of climbing styles (slab, dihedral, wall) and its uniformity makes this climb a classical one in the Aiguille Rouge Massif.
The climbing ends with the Chapelle (2669m), a monolith with a characteristic shape that stands on the southern ridge of the Aiguille de la Gliere. The return is a walk on rocky and grassy steps. The southern ridge of la Chapelle de la Glière is for people wishing to climb a rocky ridge. Previous rock climbing experience is required: ability to climb French grade 5a minimum.
