Multi-Day Mountaineering

Our mountaineering courses and alpine climbs allow you to discover the high mountains, progress over several days and climb alpine summits.

Which mountaineering trip should you choose?

Our mountaineering courses and alpine climbs are designed for all levels, from first experiences in the high mountains to advanced training. Each program combines technical learning with practical mountain experience, with objectives adapted to the participants’ level. Some offer the opportunity to discover mountaineering through the ascent of a classic alpine peak, such as the Aiguille du Tour.

Your choice will depend primarily on your experience, fitness level and objectives. The Monte Rosa 4000-metre peaks, Gran Paradiso, Weissmies or courses dedicated to greater autonomy: each program allows you to develop your skills while experiencing the different aspects of mountaineering and the high mountains.

Why choose a mountaineering course in Chamonix?

A multi-day mountaineering course allows you to progressively explore the different aspects of the high mountains. Glacier techniques, use of an ice axe and crampons, roping techniques and ropework are all practised in real mountain terrain in the Mont Blanc massif and the Aiguilles Rouges.

The Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix offers a structured mountaineering training path, from introductory courses to our Autonomy & Safety courses. The objective is to progressively develop the essential skills required to become more independent in the high mountains and take on more ambitious alpine ascents.

Progressing with a mountain guide

Mountaineering with a mountain guide allows you to experience different types of alpine terrain alongside an expert who can assess the risks involved. Your guide adapts the routes and objectives to the conditions and the level of the group, making the decisions required to ensure safety throughout the trip.

Your guide shares their experience and knowledge of the high mountains, progressively teaching you how to prepare for an ascent, observe the terrain, understand the conditions and make the right decisions. This transfer of knowledge is an integral part of our programs and allows you to gradually build your own experience as a mountaineer.
