In the foothills of the Aiguille de l’M, between the Mer de Glace and Plan de l’Aiguille, Frêtes des Charmoz is a fun rock ridge climb. It boasts a breath-taking view on the mythic peaks of the Mont Blanc massif: Drus, Aiguille Verte and Aiguilles de Chamonix. The route starts at Montenvers (1 913m), that you will reach by a rack railway. The itinerary goes across Signal Forbes and then alternates walking and short rock climbing sections up to Col Blanc (2630m), at the foot of Aiguille de l’M. Get ready for thrills when crossing the “râteau de chèvre”, a particularly aerian and sharp section. Way back to Montenvers through the Combe de l’M and the Grand Balcon Nord trail.
Frêtes de Charmoz is for people wishing to experience the typical atmosphere of climbing a rock ridge. In order to make the most of it, previous rock climbing experience is necessary.
