Day Hiking
Guided day hikes in Chamonix are a great way to discover the valley and the Mont Blanc massif, from mountain forests and alpine meadows to high-altitude lakes. Set out for a few hours or a full day to explore the landscapes, wildlife, flora and heritage of the Mont Blanc region.
Full-Day or Half-Day Hiking in Chamonix
A full-day hike allows you to explore different areas of the Chamonix Valley. With 600 to 1,000 metres of elevation gain, our itineraries take you through alpine meadows, forests and high-altitude trails. In the Aiguilles Rouges, some hikes lead to iconic locations such as Lac Cornu or the Lacs Noirs.
For a first experience or simply to enjoy a few hours in the mountains, our half-day hikes offer accessible itineraries with 200 to 300 metres of elevation gain. The lift system also provides quick access to higher elevations and panoramic views of the glaciers and peaks of the Mont Blanc massif.
Themed Hikes in Chamonix
Our themed hikes offer a different way to discover the mountains through the seasons and key moments in the life of local wildlife. Deer rut, bird migration, chamois rut, ibex rut and mountain flora: each season brings new opportunities to observe the wildlife and flora of the valley.
These hikes are also an opportunity to discover the heritage and traditions of the Mont Blanc region. Meeting local producers, learning about mountain farming and observing wildlife all add another dimension to the hike. From autumn colours to the spring courtship displays of the black grouse, each outing offers a different perspective on the mountains.
Hiking in Chamonix with a Guide
Hiking with a guide means benefiting from a professional who can adapt the itinerary to your level, your goals and the conditions on the day. Pace, weather, trail conditions or unexpected changes: their knowledge of the terrain allows them to adjust the hike while looking after the safety and comfort of the group.
As a specialist in the mountain environment, your guide also shares their knowledge of wildlife, flora, local heritage and traditions. They can take you along quieter trails, away from the most popular routes, and help you discover the Chamonix Valley beyond its best-known sites.
