Multi-Day Ski Tours

Ski touring trips in the Alps offer the opportunity to explore the winter mountains on multi-day journeys through glaciers, high peaks and some of the great Alpine valleys.

Multi-Day Ski Touring in the Alps

Whether based in a single hut or travelling from hut to hut, a ski touring trip allows you to spend several consecutive days in the mountains and explore routes that are difficult to access in a single day. Nights in mountain huts or lodges become part of the journey, offering a true immersion in the winter high-mountain environment.

In the Mont Blanc massif, ski lifts provide quick access to iconic glacial areas such as the Vallée Blanche or the Argentière basin, particularly well suited to two- or three-day tours based from a hut. Hut-to-hut itineraries, meanwhile, take you from valley to valley and refuge to refuge on a true journey through the mountains.

Ski Touring Trips Across the Alps

From the Mont Blanc massif to the Swiss Valais and the mountains of Italy, the Alps offer an exceptional variety of routes for a multi-day ski touring trip. Summits, high mountain passes, glaciers and long descents make it possible to experience very different journeys, ranging from a few days to a full week.

Among the great ski touring traverses, the famous Chamonix-Zermatt Haute Route is undoubtedly the best-known ski tour in the Alps. It links the Mont Blanc massif with the Matterhorn through the high mountains of the Swiss Valais. Other itineraries explore the French, Swiss and Italian Alps, combining ski ascents, high mountain passes and memorable descents.

Choosing the Right Ski Touring Trip

Choosing the right ski touring trip depends on your experience, technical ability and fitness level. Daily elevation gain, time spent skiing, altitude and the technical difficulty of the terrain all help determine which tour is best suited to your goals, from a first multi-day trip to a major glacier traverse.

With a mountain guide, you follow an itinerary adapted to the group’s ability and current mountain conditions. Previous experience of day ski touring is generally required, while more demanding tours require solid off-piste skiing skills, confident kick turns and experience travelling on glaciated terrain.
