General information

Aiguille Croux - A gateway to the majestic Italian side of Mont Blanc
Perched above Val Vény, the Aiguille Croux (3,256 m) rises from the rocky foothills of Mont Blanc’s Italian side. While the French side of the massif is dominated by vast glaciers and rounded features, the southern face offers a striking contrast: a maze of sharp ridges and steep granite pillars plunging into the Frêney and Brouillard glaciers. Still relatively unknown, the Aiguille Croux is an ideal entry point into this wild and dramatic terrain. Step into a world with a truly unique atmosphere — one that has witnessed legendary alpine adventures.

📩 Booking is available by email or phone only. Our team is here to help you choose the route that suits you best. Prices vary depending on difficulty and duration; full details are available in our dedicated brochure.

Southwest Ridge - A perfect introduction to the area
Starting from the Monzino Hut (2,590 m) — reached via a trail with several via ferrata sections — the southwest ridge of the Aiguille Croux, also known as the Cheney Ridge, offers a beautiful rock climb (up to 4c French grade), combining ridge climbing and scrambling. It’s one of the best ways to experience the unique atmosphere of this side of Mont Blanc. The climbing is steady and foot-focused, never overly physical, with several impressive airy sections. The route is reminiscent of the normal ascent of the Aiguille du Peigne or the Aiguille du Moine. The descent is by rappel, followed by a walk down.

Monzino Hut - A destination in itself
Even without aiming for the summit, the Monzino Hut makes for a rewarding day out in itself (+1,000 m elevation gain). Clinging to the slopes above Val Vény, it offers stunning views of Mont Blanc’s southern face. Nearby, the Aiguille du Châtelet (2,525 m) provides an accessible climb that combines via ferrata and easy alpine terrain — a great introductory outing before enjoying lunch at the hut.

Ottoz-Hurzeler Route - A classic on the east face
The east face of the Aiguille Croux is home to several excellent multi-pitch climbs. Among them, the Ottoz-Hurzeler route (sustained 5c, max 6a, French grade) stands out for its smart line and distinct alpine feel. Technical yet accessible, it requires solid experience with high-altitude rock climbing and rewards climbers with unforgettable views over the Frêney Glacier.
