Do I have to carry my rucksack during the trip?

Yes. You will always carry your daypack: water, warm clothes, rainwear and a packed lunch. Some packages include the transfer of the rest of your luggage between accommodation stops. Even with a transfer, it is important to keep the weight of your daypack reasonable.
