Gaillands Climbing School - Chamonix’s must-visit site
The Les Gaillands is the reference climbing school in Chamonix. Easily accessible, just a short distance from the town centre, it benefits from an exceptional natural setting between lake and forest. A true paradise for the whole family, including younger children, it offers a progressive introduction to rock climbing and vertical movement, suitable for both kids and adults. With over 150 routes, the majority at accessible grades (≤ 5+), the Gaillands provide the perfect terrain to learn and progress safely. The rock offers a wide variety of climbing — slabs, cracks and small overhangs — and the equipment in place allows both top-rope and lead climbing.
Flexible options to suit your pace
With a strong focus on teaching and a friendly atmosphere, our guides and instructors — all passionate climbers — run supervised sessions throughout the summer, in the morning or afternoon, from age 7. Specific “Spider Kids” sessions are also available for children aged 4 to 6, offering a gentle introduction to climbing. For those looking to go further, we also offer multi-day courses designed to help you progress quickly and build independence in climbing.
Group sessions allow you to join other participants. Sessions are confirmed with a minimum of 3 people. Separate groups for adults and children are organised depending on bookings, ensuring an experience adapted to each participant.
