Tour du Mont Blanc Clockwise
Physical Level 1: For individuals who engage in occasional physical activity, positive elevation gain up to 250m or distance up to 5km.
Physical Level 2: For individuals who engage in regular physical activity, positive elevation gain up to 500m or distance up to 10km.
Physical Level 3: For individuals who engage in regular endurance activities, positive elevation gain up to 1000m or distance up to 20km or multi-day routes with carrying personal belongings for the day.
Physical Level 4: For individuals who engage in regular endurance activities, positive elevation gain up to 1400m or distance up to 25km or multi-day routes with carrying personal belongings for the duration of the trek.
Physical Level 5: For individuals who engage in intensive endurance activities, positive elevation gain exceeding 1400m or distance exceeding 25km.
Technical Level 1: For walkers, capable of navigating wide mountain trails suitable for vehicles.
Technical Level 2: For occasional hikers, capable of navigating non-technical mountain trails.
Technical Level 3: For regular hikers, capable of navigating slightly uneven mountain trails with roots or rocks.
Technical Level 4: For experienced hikers, capable of navigating rugged mountain trails with boulders, large steps, or exposed sections.

The legendary circuit of the Northern Alps, the Tour du Mont-Blanc, offers a unique panorama. During this hike, you can appreciate the beauty of the Mont-Blanc massif and discover the natural and cultural heritage of Valais, Valle d'Aosta, and Pays du Mont Blanc. Departing from the Chamonix Valley, you will traverse mountain trails through France, Switzerland, and Italy. This long-distance hike exposes you to breathtaking panoramic views: lakes, mountain pastures, and glaciers. A circuit for hiking enthusiasts, rich in emotions.
Take the time to explore the magnificent landscapes of the Mont-Blanc Massif and the flora and fauna of this exceptional environment. Live a unique experience along the mountain trails. Your mountain guide will enhance your journey with anecdotes and valuable tips while overseeing the entire logistics. Luggage transport is arranged for the entire hike, allowing you to focus on the essentials in your backpack and fully enjoy your trek. Transfers and luggage handling are efficiently managed by taxi companies. The accommodation prepares a daily picnic. For maximum comfort, accommodations consist of basic hotels or inns, offering double/twin rooms.
To complete the Tour du Mont Blanc we have designed a series of itineraries to allow you to hike with logistics tailored to your needs. Our "light backpack" itineraries, combining exploration and comfort, also take you to the heart of Gran Paradiso National Park in the Aosta Valley or to the Oberland massif for enjoying the picture-postcard atmosphere of the Swiss Alps.
The collective formula associates several people who do not necessarily know each other. It allows for a planned program to benefit from an attractive price on fixed dates. This formula is ideal for people looking for the friendliness of a group.

Price 2027 : 1395 € per person
This price includes:
- the organization of the trip
- supervision by a state qualified trekking guide
- half-board accommodation in either a basic hotel or gîte in either a double or twin room depending on the option you choose. Restroom facilities (bathroom and toilets) can be shared collectively in small hotels or inns.
*For people signing up alone, we cannot guarantee that you will share your room with a person of the same gender.

Meeting point : Meet at 8.30 am at the Compagnie des Guides office, 190 Place de l’Eglise, 74400 Chamonix.
Ability level : 3/5 - Tour du Mont-Blanc “Light Backpack” hiking trip is a moderate trek. A minimum of 700m (2296ft) and a maximum of 1300m (4265ft) vertical gain and about 5 to 7 hours of hiking daily. Hiking on generally well-maintained mountain trails, sometimes including out-of-trail sections. For active people who do not mind training to prepare for the hike and practice sport regularly. A great multiday hike for people with trekking experience.
Itinerary: The guide may need to adjust the itinerary based on weather conditions and/or the physical and/or technical abilities of the group
Guiding policy : minimum 7 and maximum 12 people per guide. The Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix's guiding policy guarantees the most balanced groups as possible as well as high-quality personalised advice. Registration possible from 16 years of age. Registration is not permitted to anyone under the age of 18 without a legal guardian.
Accomodation :
- During the trip : 5 nights half board in basic hotels or inns either in a double/twin room. Restroom facilities (bathroom and toilets) can be shared collectively in small hotels or inns. For people signing up alone, we cannot guarantee that you will share your room with a person of the same gender.
- Before & after the trip : benefit from preferential prices from our partner hotels in Chamonix.
Documentation :
- Participants must have sports insurance with repatriation cover. We strongly recommend that this also includes cancellation cover. You can take out insurance offering both of these types of cover when you sign up.
- Participants must also take valid ID with them.
Preparing for the trip : An information meeting with your guide is scheduled the day before departure at 6pm at the Compagie des Guides office. We highly recommend your participation, as this meeting provides an opportunity to fine-tune your preparation.

Itinerary
Chamonix - Col de la Forclaz
We begin our stay in the village of Le Tour. The Col de Balme (2 191m), on the Franco-Swiss border, is our first objective. Once we reach the Col, we leave Mont Blanc and the other mountains of the Chamonix Valley behind us. We continue towards Trient. From there, a final short climb takes us to the Col de la Forclaz, where we will spend the night.
Elevation gain: 3,000 feet - loss: 3,000 feet - Distance : 6.8 miles
Col de la Forclaz - Champex
We walk towards the Giète alpine pasture (1884m). Our path then climbs to the Col de Portalo (2049m), offering magnificent views over the Rhône Valley. We then begin our descent towards the charming village of Champex-Lac (1500m).
Elevation gain: 2,300 feet - loss: 2,600 feet - Distance : 8.5 miles
Grand col Ferret
From La Fouly, we head towards the Grand Col Ferret (1537m), the Italian-Swiss border. We skirt Mont Dolent (3819m), an iconic peak straddling France, Switzerland, and Italy, before discovering the southern slopes of the Mont Blanc massif. The descent to the Italian Val Ferret unfolds opposite the Pré de Bar and Miage glaciers. From Arnuva, a transfer will take us to Courmayeur where we will spend the night.

Val Veny - Ville des Glaciers
From La Visaille (1,660m), we ascend the Val Veny, skirting the magnificent Lac Combal with its meandering white water colored by glacial flour. The well-maintained path leads us to the Elisabetta refuge and then to the Col de la Seigne (2,516m), marking the border between Italy and France. We then descend to the Beaufortain alpine pastures and their herds of Tarine cows, characterized by their tawny coats and velvety eyes.

Les Chapieux - Les Contamines Montjoie
From the remote Chapieux Valley, we begin our day with a beautiful climb through alpine pastures to the Col de la Croix du Bonhomme (2479m). We then continue to the Col du Bonhomme (2329m) where we enjoy a superb natural terrace and the view for a break. We then begin our descent through the Contamines-Montjoie nature reserve to reach Notre-Dame-de-la-Gorge and its famous Baroque church.

Contamines Montjoie - Chamonix
This morning we head towards the Miage valley. The climb then becomes steeper and winds its way up to the Col du Tricot ( (6,955ft). Our efforts will be rewarded with a breathtaking view of the southwest face of the Mont Blanc massif. We will then cross the famous suspended bridge over the Bionnassay torrent and begin our descent towards Les Houches, by taking the Bellevue cable car. Return to Chamonix by public transport. End of the hike.
