General information

Rock climbing course in Chamonix for ages 9-12

Designed for children aged 9 to 12, this rock climbing course combines adventure, safety and the development of technical skills to progress from top-rope climbing to lead climbing. Children learn belaying techniques, essential knots and lead climbing while developing their coordination, managing effort, route reading and anticipation skills. They also learn to manage their emotions, overcome apprehension and trust their climbing partners. Learning is progressive and fun, with routes offering a variety of profiles and levels of difficulty: slabs, dihedrals, ridges and small overhangs. Technical challenges, timed exercises and rappels complement the climbing sessions.

The course organisation and teaching approach are adapted to each child's level to encourage progression, social interaction and team spirit. Sessions take place at natural climbing sites throughout the Chamonix Valley. To allow children to make real progress from one session to the next, registration is for all 4 days, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. For a more flexible option, discover our rock climbing lessons in Chamonix or Argentière.
